ZEN: Relaxing, pleasurable, or mysterious experiences, or more generally, being in the moment.

We will be painting The Buddha...playing and layering colors with acrylic paints, working with acrylic inks to create vibrant color, and adding gold, silver and copper leaf.

This is not a paint & sip - paint-by-numbers, learn how to paint nor creating a beautiful piece of art. This is a process - a journey. This is about being open, getting into flow, quieting your inner critic and letting go!

In a relaxed environment, we'll begin with a two minute meditation on Gratitude to tap into your own inner Buddha.

Through a guided process, you will start your painting by layering colors freely on a 12" x 16" white blank canvas, using high quality acrylics. Art, like life and any experience, is a build up of layers and moments.  You need to let one moment be, enjoy it as it happens and move on. It's only when we can let go of our attachment that the magic happens.

As you become more comfortable and connected to your free and expressive self, you will be guided on drawing the outline of your Buddha's face. You can follow my instruction or feel free to go in your own direction and create whatever version that appeals to you. Different samples of Buddha paintings will be there for you to refer to. This is not a technical step by step painting class.  This is about learning to 'let go' and allows room for individual creativity.  It's about finding your own voice and tapping into your own way of expressing yourself.

Once you have finished drawing the outline of your Buddha's face, and adding more colors and layers to your painting, you'll start to see your Buddha come forward.  If you choose, you may add acrylic inks to create vibrant color and for an unique effect - gold, silver and copper leaf.  When your layers are complete, you will add the final little touches.

Be open and see where it takes you!  You'll go home with your own unique artwork and one day when you see your Buddha painting hanging on your wall, you may even hear two little words whisper.... "Let go."

The less "artistic experience" one has the better.
